Of course! However, realize that being a DDI member entitles you to free consultations and exclusive discounts on treatment, so it’s to your benefit to consider being a member, although it is not required.
No, Dental Direct Israel (DDI) is not medical insurance. It is a membership club with benefits and discounts. It was founded to incentivize yeshiva students in their gap year in Israel to take care of their teeth, address tooth pain before it develops into more significant problems, and act as a friendly, English-speaking resource for all oral health-related questions.
Dr. Rachel is a very patient and experienced dentist. Yeshiva and seminary students especially feel comfortable because she’s approachable and has a friendly bedside manner. You can always email or WhatsApp questions, and she will get back to you as soon as she can. Dr. Rachel will also go to great lengths to help in an emergency. If she can’t see the patient immediately, she will provide guidance for pain management until she can see the patient in the office.
Sure! Dr. Rachel is not an orthodontist, but as a DDI member, you can come by the office, and Dr. Rachel can see how she can help relieve your pain. She might also refer you to a trusted orthodontist for continued care and ensure you get the best treatment.
Dr. Rachel has gotten many referrals for continued treatment from dentists whose patients spend the year in Israel (especially dentists from NY and NJ, who knew her pre-aliyah!). A DDI membership plan is a very sensible investment for someone who knows their daughter will require extensive dental work because it will give significant discounts on treatment.
Even before DDI discounts, our prices are mainstream Israeli, which means they are much lower (sometimes even 40%!) than US costs for comparable work. We have patients who wait to get their dental work done in Israel, with us, because of the significant price difference!
No, anyone can choose to become a DDI member and enjoy the benefits. We have clients who are also newly married and plan to live in Israel for a few years.
Unfortunately, the DDI membership fee is not refundable. However, there should be no reason for you not to use your membership perks of free cleanings and checkups! The DDI membership’s biggest goal is to incentivize you and your child to care for their teeth while in Israel – take us up on our offers!
